Rincon Point

Rincon Point, located on the border of Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, is a world-renowned surfing destination nicknamed the Queen of the Coast for its perfect, long-peeling point break waves. Its history spans thousands of years, beginning as the significant Chumash village of Shuku and later becoming part of the 19th-century Rancho El Rincon. During the 20th century, it transitioned from a secluded agricultural area and bohemian enclave into a center for surfing innovation, where legends like Reynolds Yater and Tom Curren refined surfboard design. Today, it remains a mix of public state beach access and a prestigious private residential community, continuing to host the historic Rincon Classic surf competition every year.

  • Located 25 minutes from Santa Barbara downtown off of the freeway.
  • Home of the Rincon Classic.
  • Beautiful views from the beach, and upper parking lot looking back into Santa Barbara.
  • Typically quite crowded.
