Lake Casitas, Ventura County
Lake Casitas is a man-made reservoir in the Ventura county close to Ojai, celebrated for its scenic beauty and historic role as the rowing venue for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. As a premier recreation destination, it offers a diverse range of activities including world-renowned bass fishing, extensive campgrounds for tents and RVs, and miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking. While body-contact with the water is prohibited to protect the drinking water supply, visitors can still explore the lake via rental boats and kayaks or enjoy the Casitas Water Adventure water park during the summer months. Surrounded by the rugged ridges of the Los Padres National Forest, the lake provides a perfect blend of high-energy outdoor sports and peaceful nature observation.
