Island Foxes on Santa Cruz Island
The island fox is a unique, house-cat-sized predator found exclusively on the Channel Islands and nowhere else on Earth. On Santa Cruz Island, the population is currently healthy and stable, representing the smallest subspecies of the six, known scientifically as Urocyon littoralis santacruzae. These foxes are remarkably docile and can often be seen by visitors near the Scorpion Anchorage and Prisoners Harbor areas, where they have become a symbol of one of the fastest successful endangered species recoveries in history.

Words from the Photographer: Don’t let the super cute foxes fool you, they’ll pee on your tent.
