Buoy Life

The Green Mile Marker Buoy in the Santa Barbara channel marks the 1 mile mark just outside the harbor mouth. On any given day, you can see anywhere from five to twenty sea lions piled on top of each other. You will also see a variety of birds, primarily California Brown Pelicans, Double-crested Cormorants, and Western Gulls, perched on the upper frame of the buoy.

• Santa Barbara has a vast ecosystem filled with all kinds of wildlife.
• Located right outside the harbor, can be seen from the end of the wharf with binoculars.
• Always a lively crowd as the sea lions bark at each other and push each other in the water about all day.
